Painting with Kandinsky

Procedure:

 

Students will

- Learn about the Artist Wassily Kandinsky and about how he incorporated music into his work

 

- Create their own Kandinsky like piece painting to music

 

- Learn about pattern and work pattern into their pieces

Students are introduced to Kandiunsky, and are taught how to use water color correctly. Students then paint to the music that is played, switching colors for each song they listen to. Once you go through all the colors, students will walk around and look at how each of theirs is different, even though they all listened to the same music.

In the next class the teacher will reintroduce the word pattern to the students and show and the students will use colored pencils to add patterns in their paint strokes.

Evaluation:

-Will come from a verbal critique at the end of class. Students will talk about theirs and each others art work. Evaluation will also come from teacher observation.
